Hello, I’m Chris
I build websites.

Right now it’s just me at CB Web Design but I work just as hard as 3 or 4 people!

My Biography

I’ve found that one of the best ways to get to know someone is to see where they’ve been and what they’ve done. Get to know me by seeing what I’ve been working on over the past several years!

I was born in Illinois in 1988 but was raised right here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2006 and went straight to the University of South Dakota the following semester to pursue a degree in business.

I had just graduated from the University of South Dakota with my B.B.A. in Business Management and I was ready to take on the world. This was the year I taught myself to build websites and use Adobe Creative Suite. I’m a slight perfectionist so you can imagine how many hours I spent making  and correcting mistakes!

The website I started with was called Sioux Falls Auto Reviewsnow known as Short Shiftand it enabled me to combine my love of cars, photography, graphic design, and web design. Today, it is still a growing news source in the area for the automotive scene.

This was a big year for me because I got my first “adult” job as an IT professional. I worked that job for three years but still built some websites on the side. During that period I built sites for Susan Randall for District 12 House, West Sioux Exhaust & Brakes, and Deer Creek Herbs & Teas.

This was also the time when I made the executive decision to change Sioux Falls Auto Reviews to Short Shift. This expanded my relevance to more of South Dakota and the upper Midwest.

2016 was a year full of changes.

In the beginning of the year I became president of Cars & Coffee of Siouxland and was tasked with the web redesign and planning of each event. This focused a lot of my attention during the summer months.

Towards the end of 2016 I had ended my time as an IT professional and decided to go out on my own. Building Decked Out Custom Carpentry’s website was great experience for me and my first large client was just around the corner. I had been consulting for Anavex Life Sciences for a few months and we decided to go through with a complete web redesign. This was one of the most valuable learning experiences I had ever had and I am still grateful for the opportunity.

During this year I also obtained my Hubspot Inbound Marketing certification and continued my work with Short Shift and Susan Randall for District 12 House.

I like to call 2017 my “breakout” year. I finished the remodel for Anavex just before spring and then started on Medary Acres Greenhouses. Medary Acres was the single largest website I have built to date—almost taking two months to complete—and I felt ready to tackle anything. Shortly after, I began work on Spoken Power and Strangers Helping Hands. Both are smaller sites but receive just as much attention.
